Description

Summary Automation Engineer (Contract) ivee · Remote, UK-based · Full-Time (Contract) · Competitive rate based on experience ________________________________________ About ivee ivee is an AI strategy and automation consultancy building AI-native workflows for some of the UK's leading organisations. The contract We're building the first phase of an AI automation programme for a well-known UK consumer food brand. Contract starts immediately, initial scope is 3-4 weeks, with a further phase lined up if phase one lands well. The client runs several marketing campaigns a year. For each one, roughly over 20 people spend many hours passing information across several documents: calendars, briefs, decks etc. We've done much of the discovery work already, so this role starts from a real spec, not a blank page, although you’ll have the ability to adjust the solution architecture as you work on the project. Phase one, what you'd build: • Core automation. Trigger-based pipeline connecting to Google Sheets/Slides via API, pulling and pushing data across the calendar, brief, and timeline documents. • Input on template standardisation. Client is redesigning the templates of the artifacts - you input on formatting requirements for the automation to work reliably. • Period brief generator. Connect an LLM to the relevant data sources, prompt/tune it to generate each section appropriately - some pulled straight through, some synthesised, some auto-generated from timing rules - then route output for review. • Channel activation plan gem. Client team inputs the creative concept and brief; the gem outputs strategy, messaging, and asset alignment for the team to edit and use to populate the activation doc. • Brief-writing generator. Same gem, takes the completed activation plan as input, drafts the creative brief for team edit • Human-in-the-loop input. Ability to pause and request input from specific team members when a field can't be auto-populated, then resume once provided. • Automated reminders. Slack integration to send milestone and deadline reminders based on the timeline. • A production timeline generator, built on lead-time rules derived from the client's own past campaigns. Later phases (not this contract): a KPI reporting layer pulling from about ten marketing platforms. You'd work alongside our applied AI lead and technical project manager, and directly with the client's marketing team. What you'd need • Strong backend or integrations engineering. Python or Node. You've built things that talk to other people's APIs and kept them running. • Real API integration fluency, not just tool operation. Google Workspace APIs (Sheets, Slides, Drive, service accounts, OAuth), plus Slack API, external research data sources, webhook/scheduled triggers, and LLM provider API integration. • Real experience with LLM applications. Not just calling an API, but designing prompt flows, building eval sets, validating output, and knowing when a model shouldn't be involved at all. • Conversational/generative tool-building. The activation and brief gems are brainstorming tools, not pure data pipelines, so you need experience designing LLM-driven ideation flows, not just extraction or generation-from-template. • You can talk to clients. You'll run discovery sessions and training. Not sales, but you need to explain a technical constraint to non-technical stakeholders. • You can work unsupervised. Small team, no one looking over your shoulder. You'll need to flag problems early and make sensible calls on your own. Nice to have • Marketing or ops tooling - Asana, HubSpot, ad platform APIs • Agency or consultancy background • Experience building tools for non-technical people to maintain • GDPR-aware data handling - the reporting phase touches customer and performance data How the engagement runs • Week 1: Discovery with the client's marketing team - confirm the open questions from our scoping • Weeks 2-3: Build the MVP • Week 4: Test against a real campaign in the client's planning cycle • Week 4.5, live on 22 Sept: Go-live, then a support window while the first real campaign runs through it Process Quick, because we want someone starting ASAP. 1. Intro call, 30 minutes 2. Paid half-day on something representative 3. Start ________________________________________ To apply: CV or portfolio, plus a line on the most awkward integration you've had to build.
