Description

Summary Freelance Developer – MCP + PostgreSQL Thread Persistence Project: Fix the existing AI chat application’s thread persistence so conversations using Claude + MCP + PostgreSQL are automatically saved and updated correctly. Main Problem: The MCP/database tool call is not consistently triggered after Claude responds, causing conversations to not be reliably stored. Required Logic: * New thread → Create one new PostgreSQL record. * Existing thread → Update the same record with new conversation content. * Do not create duplicate records/files for every message. * Identify threads using an appropriate combination such as user_id + thread_id/thread_name. * Maintain the complete conversation history. * Automatically trigger persistence at the correct point in the chat workflow. * Handle retries, failures, race conditions, and data integrity. Developer Responsibilities: * Review the existing Claude/chat architecture. * Review the current MCP implementation and PostgreSQL schema. * Find why the persistence/tool call is failing. * Implement reliable insert/update (upsert) logic. * Prevent duplicate records. * Test multiple messages, threads, and users. * Document the implementation and database logic. Required Skills: * PostgreSQL * Claude/Anthropic API * MCP / Model Context Protocol * LLM tool/function calling * Node.js/TypeScript or Python * Backend/API development * Chat/thread persistence * Async workflow debugging * JSON and database upsert operations Expected Deliverables: 1. Working MCP + PostgreSQL persistence. 2. Automatic creation of new-thread records. 3. Automatic updating of existing threads. 4. No unnecessary duplicates. 5. Reliable tool triggering. 6. Correct user/thread identification. 7. Complete workflow testing. 8. Documentation. Ideal Developer: Someone who can debug and improve the existing codebase, understand the current Claude/MCP architecture, identify the exact failure point, and implement a clean persistence solution rather than building a completely new system. Applicants should provide: * MCP/LLM tool-calling experience * Claude/Anthropic API experience * PostgreSQL experience * Similar chat persistence project experience * Preferred backend stack * Proposed approach to solving the issue
