Summary We are a labor compliance company working on construction projects in California. We need a developer to build a structured offline reference database derived from California's Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DIR) Public Works Apprenticeship Program search, found here: https://www.dir.ca.gov/databases/das/pwaddrstart.asp What we need built: A properly structured database covering all California counties and all applicable trades/occupations available through the DIR search. For each county-trade combination, the database should capture the applicable apprenticeship programs, including program name, address, phone, email, program identifiers, geographic applicability, trade applicability, and any other useful identifying information. The data model must recognize that one program can apply to multiple counties and multiple trades without creating unnecessary duplicate records. 30-Day Verification: The database cannot be a one-time extraction. We need an automated process that verifies our database against the live DIR site every 30 days and identifies what was added, removed, changed, or Unchanged. We need enough history to know what DIR showed previously, what it shows now, what changed, and when. Database Architecture: We want zero or minimal database licensing cost. No paid services or recurring infrastructure without prior approval. We want properly structured relational data, query capability by county and trade, exportability into standard formats, and a design that can migrate into a larger production system later. We are deliberately not specifying the database technology. We want you to tell us what you recommend and why. In your proposal, please include: - Your proposed method for retrieving the DIR data - Your recommended database technology and why you chose it over alternatives - What it costs now and any recurring costs - Where the database will reside and how it will be backed up - How another application will query it later - How you will implement the 30-day automated verification - Your estimated hours to complete the work - Any technical risks or limitations you identify - Any third-party costs or services you anticipate We will test the result by selecting county and trade combinations and comparing your database results directly against the live DIR website.
