Description
Summary We are a legal technology consultancy implementing case management and accounting systems for law firms across the US, UK, Caribbean, Australia and India. We are engaging an integration developer for a client engagement involving a multi-currency Clio Manage QuickBooks Online sync for an international law firm. You would be contracted through us and working to our technical spec, alongside our technical lead. This is a build role, not an advisory one. SCOPE OF WORK 1. Bi-directional sync of clients/contacts, matters, invoices, payments, credit notes and expenses between Clio Manage and QuickBooks Online 2. Chart of accounts mapping, including separate handling of client/trust accounts and operating accounts 3. Dual-currency handling: [BASE CURRENCY] as functional currency with [SECOND CURRENCY] transactions, including FX rate capture at transaction date rather than sync date 4. Realised and unrealised FX gain/loss treatment, correctly posted and traceable to source transactions 5. Trust/client-account rules enforced at integration level — no commingling, no cross-currency transfer without an explicit ledger entry 6. Reconciliation reporting that ties Clio balances to QuickBooks balances per currency, per account, and survives audit review 7. Idempotent sync logic with duplicate prevention, retry handling and a replayable error queue 8. Audit logging of every write, with user, timestamp, payload and outcome 9. Test evidence: test plan, test data set, and documented results across both currencies 10. Written handover documentation and a recorded walkthrough REQUIREMENTS 1. Demonstrated hands-on work with the Clio Manage API (v4) — not just Zapier-level connectors 2. Demonstrated hands-on work with the QuickBooks Online API, including multi-currency company files 3. OAuth 2.0, webhooks, token refresh, and API rate-limit handling 4. Strong [Node.js / Python — pick one] and a hosted middleware pattern 5. Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and FX revaluation — you must be able to explain why a posting is correct, not just that it ran 6. Clear written English and direct client-facing communication 7. Overlap with [TIMEZONE] business hours 8. Willingness to sign an NDA and confidentiality undertaking covering client financial data PREFERRED - Prior work with legal trust/client accounting (IOLTA, SRA client money, or equivalent) - Experience with Clio Payments or Clio Accounting - Experience migrating or reconciling historic transaction data TO APPLY Tell us about one multi-currency accounting integration you have built. Name the platforms, the currencies, and how you handled FX gain/loss.
