Description

Summary We're a small nonprofit research organization looking for an experienced backend/full-stack developer to help us set up a secure web integration for wearable data collection in clinical research studies. We're planning to use the Thryve Wearable API. Thryve handles the wearable integrations and stores the wearable data on its infrastructure. We need help building the smaller web application on our side that connects study participants to Thryve. What we'd need the application to do Based on Thryve's guidance, our side of the integration would need to: - Create a Thryve user for each study participant through their API - Securely store a mapping between our internal study participant ID and the corresponding Thryve user/alias - Generate a secure connection link for each participant - Display Thryve's wearable connection widget via iframe - Provide a simple admin interface for research staff to manage participant connections Participants would not need accounts on our main website. All wearable data collection and storage would take place on Thryve's infrastructure, and initially our research team would export the collected data manually through Thryve's dashboard. We'd ideally like to build this as reusable infrastructure, potentially at a subdomain, so it can support multiple research studies over time rather than being built for a single study. What we're looking for: We don't have an internal software development team, so we're looking for someone who can help us determine the appropriate technical setup as well as build and deploy it. Security and privacy are especially important because our side of the system will maintain the mapping between our study participant IDs and Thryve users. We're currently confirming the specific compliance requirements with Thryve, but experience with healthcare, clinical research, HIPAA-sensitive, pseudonymized, or similarly sensitive data is strongly preferred. We're looking for experience with: - Backend/full-stack development - REST API integrations - Secure database design - Authentication and access controls - Secure web/cloud deployment - Healthcare or clinical research data security Before beginning the full build, we'd like to start with a brief technical assessment of the proposed workflow and Thryve requirements. From there, we'd like recommendations for the architecture, hosting/security requirements, estimated development scope, and ongoing maintenance needs. We're working with a fairly short study timeline, so availability to begin soon is important. We value clear communication and especially appreciate someone who can explain technical recommendations in straightforward terms to a primarily non-technical research team.
