Description
Summary **Description:** We're building an integration platform to connect our systems with EHR/clinical data sources using HL7 and FHIR standards. The platform needs to support secure authentication with EHR systems, normalize incoming clinical data into a consistent internal schema, and give our team visibility into integration health and failures. We're looking for a senior engineer who can own this end-to-end — from architecture through production readiness — over a 3-month engagement. **Core Skills Required:** - HL7 v2 and JSON data handling - Secure authentication flows for EHR connectivity - REST API integration and data transformation - Experience with workflow tools - SQL/Postgres or similar relational database experience - Frontend experience for building monitoring/admin dashboards (Angular, Vue, or React) - Error handling, retry logic, and operational logging patterns **Strongly Preferred:** - Prior EHR integration experience (Cerner, Epic, athenahealth, or similar) - Experience designing canonical/normalized data models for healthcare data - Docker/AWS deployment experience **Engagement Structure (Milestone-Based, ~12 Weeks):** **Milestone 1: Architecture & Authentication (Weeks 1–3)** - Define platform architecture and data flow - Implement secure authentication with the target EHR system - Set up token management (caching, refresh handling) - Deliverable: working authenticated connection to a test EHR/FHIR endpoint, architecture doc **Milestone 2: Data Mapping & Normalization (Weeks 4–6)** - Define a consistent internal data structure for core healthcare entities - Build logic to transform and normalize inbound data into that structure - Deliverable: documentation, working transformation logic, sample outputs **Milestone 3: Workflow & Connector Build (Weeks 7–9)** - Build reusable inbound/outbound connector workflows - Implement error handling, retry logic, and message logging - Deliverable: working end-to-end data flow from source to normalized output, test cases **Milestone 4: Monitoring Dashboard & Handoff (Weeks 10–12)** - Build a dashboard showing connector/integration health, message history, execution states, and failures - Documentation for support/troubleshooting - Production readiness review - Deliverable: working dashboard, technical documentation, handoff call **When applying, please include:** 1. Your experience with HL7 v2, JSON, and EHR integrations 2. Examples of similar healthcare integration projects you've worked on 3. Your recommended technical approach for authentication and data normalization 4. Your availability over the next 3 months 5. Any architecture diagrams, sample schemas, or documentation you're able to share from past work
