Description

Summary Hello, I am looking to hire a backend-focused developer to help migrate a bilingual digital magazine from a highly legacy Joomla 1.5 setup over to a self-hosted, dual-instance Ghost CMS framework. We will be using a premium multilingual Ghost theme (Crimson) that maps language routing across two standalone instances via matching URL slugs. The legacy Joomla database has roughly 2,500 total articles. We do not need to live-migrate all of them into the new Ghost dashboards, but we do need to preserve them. The project requires the following technical steps: 1. Static Site Scraping: Run a static website generator (like HTTrack) to convert the entire legacy Joomla 1.5 site into flat, static HTML/CSS/JS files. We will host this permanently on Cloudflare Pages or GitHub Pages as a historical archive link. 2. Database Extraction: Write a quick local script (Python preferred) to log into our legacy database, read the core articles table (`jos_content`), map them to their corresponding translations table (`jos_joomfish_content`), and extract a selected subset of core articles. 3. Ghost JSON Preparation: Format the extracted data into two separate, clean Ghost-compatible JSON import files (English and Spanish). The script must ensure that the translated articles are assigned the exact same URL slug line so that the Crimson front-end language switcher routes properly between instances. 4. Server Deployment: Spin up a low-cost VPS (DigitalOcean or Hetzner), install two Ghost instances running on separate local ports/databases, configure an Nginx reverse proxy with Let's Encrypt SSL, and perform the final JSON content import. Looking forward to working with you!
