Summary About This Opportunity We are seeking a senior-level Google Cloud Platform (GCP) AI/ML Engineer with deep expertise in Vertex AI, Gemini enterprise integration, and API-driven AI architectures to support a large-scale cloud migration and AI modernization initiative for a major U.S. government agency. This is a federal government contract — U.S. citizenship is a hard requirement with no exceptions. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and handing off secure, compliant AI/ML infrastructure within a FedRAMP High / Assured Workloads environment. ⚠️ Eligibility Requirements (Non-Negotiable) U.S. Citizen only — required for FedRAMP High clearance compliance Must be eligible to work on U.S. federal government contracts Background check required prior to engagement What You'll Be Working On AI/ML Workload Assessment & Cloud Migration Assess existing AWS-based AI/ML workloads and define migration patterns, data strategies, and GCP service equivalents Vertex AI & Gemini Architecture Design and implement Vertex AI project architecture within FedRAMP-compliant Assured Workloads boundaries Integrate Google Gemini models for enterprise inference use cases within secure government cloud environments API Management & AI Gateway Integration Design and configure API proxies for Vertex AI endpoints — covering Gemini inference, Document AI processing, and related services Coordinate with API gateway teams on AI traffic routing, request/response transformation, and endpoint validation Implement end-to-end AI workflow testing from model inference through API gateway layers to downstream application consumers Security, IAM & Private Connectivity Configure IAM policies and Private Service Connect (PSC) for Vertex AI and Gemini environments Ensure all AI/ML configurations meet FedRAMP High compliance standards Observability & Audit Logging Extend cloud logging to capture AI invocation audit trails, API analytics, and Document AI processing events Traffic Management & Reliability Patterns Implement shadow routing, parity validation pipelines, traffic cutover strategies, and circuit breaker patterns for AI service migrations Knowledge Transfer & Transition Coordination Lead coordination sessions to enable government stakeholders and operational teams on Vertex AI, Gemini enterprise operations, API management, and AWS-to-GCP service mapping Required Qualifications 5+ years of GCP experience, with demonstrated depth in AI/ML and cloud architecture 2–3 GCP certifications, including at minimum: Google Professional Cloud Architect Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer or equivalent AI/ML certification Additional certs in Security, Data, or Networking strongly preferred Hands-on experience with Vertex AI — model deployment, pipelines, and endpoint management Experience integrating Gemini models in enterprise or production environments Proficiency in Apigee or equivalent API management platforms for AI endpoint proxying Strong understanding of IAM, Private Service Connect (PSC), and VPC Service Controls Experience with AWS-to-GCP migrations, specifically AI/ML workloads Familiarity with audit logging, observability, and monitoring for AI systems (Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring) U.S. Citizen — required for FedRAMP compliance Preferred / Bonus Qualifications Experience with FedRAMP High or federal government cloud projects Hands-on experience with Google Assured Workloads for compliance-constrained environments Familiarity with Document AI and enterprise document processing pipelines Experience with Kong AI Gateway or similar AI traffic management platforms Background in traffic migration patterns — shadow routing, canary releases, circuit breakers Experience delivering knowledge transfer sessions to government or enterprise stakeholders Familiarity with the Cloud Foundation Fabric / FAST framework Skills & Tools We're Looking For GCP Vertex AI Gemini Document AI Apigee API Management IAM Private Service Connect VPC Service Controls Cloud Logging Cloud Monitoring Assured Workloads FedRAMP AWS Migration AI/ML Engineering Terraform IaC DevOps CI/CD Professional Cloud Architect Professional ML Engineer How to Apply Please include the following in your proposal: Confirmation that you are a U.S. Citizen and eligible for federal contract work List of your GCP certifications — attach or link credential badges (must include at least Cloud Architect and an AI/ML cert) Summary of your Vertex AI and Gemini hands-on experience — what you built, at what scale, and in what compliance context Examples of API proxy/gateway work for AI or ML endpoints (Apigee, Kong, or similar) Any AWS-to-GCP migration experience, especially for AI/ML workloads FedRAMP or Assured Workloads experience — describe the compliance context Your hourly rate Resume with relevant experience is a must Proposals without U.S. citizenship confirmation and relevant GCP AI/ML certifications will not be reviewed.
