Summary We run a labour hire and recruitment business in New Zealand. Around 30 staff, multiple branches. We have a written AI transformation programme with a governance framework behind it, workflow registry, staging gates, exception handling, change control, a phased roadmap. We now need the person who builds it with us. This is not a ticket-taking role. We are not going to feed you a task list. You will work alongside the senior leadership team, but we expect you to lead, come to us with the opportunities, not wait to be handed them. Then implement fast, support what's live, and train our staff to use it. The value we are paying for is speed of deployment, quality and reliability. Most of our team are recruiters, not technical people. If you can build but can't teach, this isn't for you. The other half of the job is safety. You will be configuring live systems that hold candidate, client and financial data. We want a specialist in doing that properly, staging before production, safeguards and rollback built in, failures that surface loudly instead of silently, everything documented and versioned. If your instinct is to ship fast and tidy up later, this isn't for you either. Claude is our AI platform across the whole team, Claude for Work, MCP and the API. Around it sits roughly 25 systems covering accounting, recruitment, payroll, HR, communications and reporting. We'll walk shortlisted candidates through the stack under NDA. You must have: • A real track record. Actual builds you can show us and explain what they did for the business, not certificates • A proven Upwork history, completed projects, strong feedback and real volume, not a new profile • Deep hands-on Claude experience specifically • Strong API, webhook and integration skills • Experience building with guardrails, staging environments, version control, monitoring, documented rollback • You challenge the plan when it's wrong. We want maximum leverage from AI, not a build service. If we're pointed at the wrong thing, say so • Plain English, and patience training non-technical staff Trial, paid, two parts. Part one, we give you our AI programme documents under NDA to review, followed by a meeting with members of the Senior Leadership Team. You come back with a short assessment, where you'd start, what you'd change and why. Part two, you build your top-priority pick end to end through our governance process, staged, tested, documented, deployed. Success is measured on things we can see, the output arrives on time without chasing, it's accurate against the source system, we can pause and roll it back using only your documentation, and when we deliberately break an input it fails loudly, not silently. If the work is good and working with us is good, we move to a monthly retainer. To apply: skip the cover letter template. NZ-friendly hours are a plus, and English native speaking or English fluent are necessary. You will sign an NDA and we will check references. You will be working inside live systems with sensitive data, the bar for trust is high.
